"Waiting On" Wednesdays: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

This meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. Stop by and see her blog.

Today is a little different. There is an upcoming release I am waiting on, but it is a sequel, and I haven't yet read the first!
So, from the library, I am waiting on two books, both group reads this month from Wild Things:

Maus I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegleman. For those of you unfamiliar with this very famous graphic novel, it's Spiegelman's interpretation of his father's life during World War II, with the Jews depicted as mice and the Nazis as cats.

And The Hunger Games, which everyone has been recommending, and which I finally decided to read -- only to have to wait for the library to get it to me. This is what goodreads has to say about it:

Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

The last book -- the one that's actually an upcoming release -- is the sequel to The Hunger Games. It's called Catching Fire, it comes out September 1st, and I haven't got a clue what it's going to be about, because I don't want to spoil my reading of The Hunger Games. If it's weird to eagerly await a sequel ot a book you haven't read, you can keep your normal. =P

  1. OOO I like that song you are listening to, by the Used.

Anyways I've read Maus as well, I almost bought it from Borders yesterday since it's totally worth owning. I think you'll really enjoy it. :-)

  2. Re: The Used. I picked that song because it went along with "Catching Fire." I'm going to try to start giving a song pairing everytime. ("Shiver" teaser was 'Wolf Like Me' by TV on the Radio. I think I'm more clever than I am...)

I've been thinking about buying Maus for awhile. I want to get my mom to read it. She's never read a gn, and she's interested in the Holocaust.
