First up:
The Name of the Wind
by Patrick Rothfuss
"Everyone think's you're dead....Other people say you're a myth."
"I am a myth," Kote said easily..."A very special kind of myth that creates itself. Some of the best lies about me are the ones I told."
"They say you never existed" Chronicler corrected gently.
....
"Ahhhh," Kote sighed out a long breath..."Clever. You'd use my own story against me. You'd hold my story a hostage."
"I would tell the truth."
" Nothing but the truth could break me. What is harder than the truth?"
And a couple of haiku from Zombie Haiku
by Eric Mecum
Biting into heads
is much harder than it looks.
The skull is feisty.
You are so lucky
that I cannot remember
how to use doorknobs.
Nothing hurts me now.
Normally the screwdriver
wouldn't have gone there.
HAHA! LOVE those zombie haiku. Made me laugh aloud in a coffee shop, actually. And the philosophy and logic of myths from that first teaser = awesome. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from Barry Smith's Only Milo.
p.s. (going on the evidence on your banner) you are a rat lover? me too!
Very much so. I don't have any right now because we're not allowed to have pets where I live, but yes, I have had many rats, both bought and rescued. So nice to meet you, fellow rat-lover.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I love the ZH teaser. Perfect mix of eww and ha! Hopefully, the book lives up.
O
ReplyDeleteI like the 1st one!
Zombie Haiku sounds good, love to read it! Biting into heads
ReplyDeleteis much harder than it looks,so funny :)
Everybody raves about Name of the Wind, but at first, I wasn't seeing it. But once you get past the framework and into the actual story, it gets really good.
ReplyDeleteAnd I won Zombie Haiku. I'm excited.
