In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. Stop by and check it out, and share your own finds!
This IMM is technically late, but whatever, I'm a rebel (and I was tired yesterday).
This week, I received:
Lucan by Susan Kearney, which I won from author Kelly Moran's blog (thanks!)
and The Smart One and the Pretty One, by Claire Lezebnik, which I won from Starting Fresh (thanks!)
I have some lovely things waiting for me at the library, and some that I picked up a few days ago:
Bookish movies:
Lost In Austen
Emma: a Victorian Romance, season 1 based on the manga Emma, by Kaoru Mori ( I am obsessed with these)
Books:
Fire by Kristin Cashore (are you as excited as I am?)
Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife , by Mary Roach
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
Such exciting stuff. And I'm not going to have a lick of time to read/watch any of it!
Which brings me to What Are You Reading? Mondays
This is a meme hosted by J. Kaye. Check it out and tell us what you are reading.
I still have a lot of my goodies left from what I picked up at the library last week, and with work it's slow going. I finished up Sea Glass by Maria V. Snyder and The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness.
I'm going to try to get through Gil's All Fright Diner by A. Lee Martinez, Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger, and maybe Fire, if I get a chance to get to the library soon.
Also, my lucky streak has continued, as I have been informed that I won:
Recipe for Disaster by Maureen Fergus, from The Shady Glade (thanks!)
Some Girl's Bite (Chicagoland Vampires #1) from Fantasy Dreamer's Ramblings (thanks!)
Highlander's Temptation and Wrong Mother, both from Bridget at Readaholic (thanks!)
and not that I'm not excited about the rest, but I am really jazzed about winning
Demon Princess from The Book Butterfly (thanks!)
Looking for Alaska from vvb32 reads (thanks!)
especially as I really want to read these, and because I found out today, which until then had been a crappy, crappy day.
So THANK YOU!!! all of you who brightened my day by giving me stuff (or commenting on posts that you really liked and telling me you mentioned/linked them in your blogs. That stuff makes me so happy, guys =D)
Last order of business, since I'm feeling good now and actually have money to spend, I'm thinking of adding something to the prize bucket for the contest portion of Helluva Halloween. So it's up to you. What halloweeny book do you guys really want to see in the prize bucket?
In this post (in completely random order):
Her Fearful Symmetry is on my reading list this week too.
ReplyDeleteHere is a look at my week.
Happy Reading!
Lost in Austen is a great movie! I laughed and laughed at the Brits. Love British comedies.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Halloween books...there are so many!
ReplyDelete-I've heard great things about The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan.
-The Devouring by Simon Holt was definitely a creepy book! I enjoyed it a lot!
-The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong
-Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow
-Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough
-Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston
-Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
All of these have are in the fantasy/paranormal/horror genre, an I've read a lot of good reviews of them! Hmm...did I go a bit overboard? I think I did...lol But at least you have suggestions, right?
I'm sorry you had a crappy day. I'll let you in on my little secret. When life sucks, I go blow money at the Book Depository to make myself feel better. Not only is it nice to get a package in the mail, but I LOVE adding books to my collection! (And the prices aren't half bad either!)...But shhhh! Don't tell anyone! Especially those people giving me my student loan...well I DID spend a lot of it on books...just not the right ones...

ReplyDeleteCan't wait for your thoughts on The Ask!
ReplyDeleteQuick teaser: I LOVE IT
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love winning things and getting things in the mail especially if they're free! So congrats on your wins and the wonderful book/movies you'll be watching and reading this week. I've got a couple of Halloweeny posts to get up and add to Mr. Linky! Any Halloweeny books in the pot will be just fine for me!
