Last week I was late with my post, and this week I am early. It's all about balance, people.
This week I received my copies of Some Girl's Bite (Chicagoland Vampires #1) from Fantasy Dreamer's Ramblings and Wrong Mother, from Bridget at Readaholic (thanks, gals!)
I also bought Artemis Fowl 4: The Opal Deception by Eoin Colfer for $1! Brand new copy, from a store, 1 buck. Crazy, right? I need to go back and dig through the bin.
I have Sunshine by Robin McKinley on its way to me from Paperback Swap (this is my first swapped book! Yay!)
From the library I got a few things I mentioned in my last post (finally picked them up on my way home from an unintentionally hilarious wedding today -- my family should never be allowed in a Catholic church):
Lost In Austen (movie)
Fire by Kristin Cashore (are you as excited as I am?)
Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife , by Mary Roach
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan (which I have been waiting and waiting on)
So I got some great stuff, which is on top of all the other great stuff I have waiting for me to read it (Y: Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan, Practical Demonkeeping by Christopher Moore, Gil's All Fright Diner by A. Lee Martinez (which I'm in the middle of), The Good Ghouls Guide to Getting Even by Julie Kenner, Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger, and Death Makes a Holiday: a Cultural History of Halloween by David J. Skal). And I have zero time.
In this post:
SUNSHINE was one of my first ever vampire reads! I loved it waaay before I read Twilight! Ah, brings back memories!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
I LOVE the header you have with the mouse =) it's adorable.
ReplyDeleteO thank goodness. I thought I was the only person who hadn't read Artemis Fowl yet.
ReplyDeleteLost in Austen is excellent! If you're familiar with P&P at all, you'll get a big kick out of this one. I laughed and laughed!
ReplyDeleteIf I'm familiar with P&P at all... Lula, I can quote it just about cover to cover. Read it at least 20 times, and no, that's not an exaggeration.
ReplyDeleteI've read most of the AF series, Juju (so you MAY be the only one) but I couldn't pass it up for a buck.
And Sara, I read Sunshine a couple months ago and loved it, and knew it was something I would want to read again, so I've been meaning to buy a copy since.
Great books you got this week. I really want to read Fire. The Forest of Hands and Teeth is a really good book. Hope you enjoy reading all your books.
ReplyDeleteThe Forest of Hands and Teeth is so good!! And Lost in Austen is a really cute show, I adored it. Nice week, Misty!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Y:The Last Man. What a great series. And go PBS! I love it! I was so excited when I joined and started to send out books to people. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteJUJU, your not alone, I haven't read any Artimes Fowl either. I have, however just, done a post about Eoin Colfer who has written the latest book in the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series after gaining permission from the estate of the late Douglas Adams who wrote the previous books. Some great looking books here by the way, there's an distinct Halloween feel.
ReplyDeletePetty, I hadn't heard about that! Hmm. I have the Ultimate Guide (with all the stories in it, looks like a Bible which amuses me -- and confuses the people who come to my house and *know* me...), but I have yet to read them. It's ridiculous. I keep saying I'm going to read The Hitchhiker's Guide next, and then something happens, or something shiny and new comes along. I'm pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you on the whole Silver Kiss thing. Blood and Chocolate wasn't my favorite either.
ReplyDeleteHave fun reading the books you got and have fun watching lost in austen. It's so fun. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome books!
ReplyDeletegreat list of books!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reaidng
Not pathetic at all, merely human. Now that you've told me this you'll have to get around to reading all the books, new release included, and consider doing a guest review on Pen And Paper.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic haul! Have fun!
