Christmas [insert holiday of choice] wishlist.
Assuming you've been good boys and girls, which books do you hope Santa's little elves can get their tiny little hands on, just for you?Personally, I always have a huge book wishlist, and my family is notoriously bad at buying books for me. It is daunting, I know, because I own a lot, and have read a lot, so they are never sure what to get, but even when I tell them...things don't seem to work out.
This year, my fingers are crossed for:
YA
I know, I know, I've read these three. But I want to own them.
ADULT
I know, it seems like a lot. But a wishlist is about two things: everything you wished you had, and options. So these are my options; I wish I had them. ;p
Alright, I showed you mine. Now it's your turn to show me yours.
I finished Ice yesterday. So lovely! Did I already tell you this on twitter? Oh well, I can't emphasise it enough! I hope you get all your books. Great choices. I want to own lovely HB editions of Ness's books too.
ReplyDeleteLove your list! What you listed that I don't already have but I want are: Eyes Like Stars. I want Hate List and Ballads of Suburbia.
ReplyDeleteSo many AWESOME books on your wishlist. I read another David Mitchell, and it was awesome. I've been wanting to read Cloud Atlas for a while now.
ReplyDeleteI actually am not asking for books this year - gasp!
I would feel too guilty since i'm already asking for a plane ticket to Japan.
Yeah, Rhiannon, you did tell me on Twitter. I meant tweet back (and yay! for Perrault, I hope you like his weird ass); I really want to read Ice.
ReplyDeleteJill -- you have everything on my list but Eyes like Stars, or you only want Eyes Like Stars? Are you rubbing it in? Do I need to make a midnight raid of your bookshelves? Cause I will...
Brizmus -- I guess a ticket to Japan does trump books, but...won't you need something to read on the plane? :P Which Mitchell book did you read? I've read them all, but these 2 are my favorites.
I want so many of those books! My own wishlist, I was given a limit of the amount of books I was to put on it - and I went over a tiny bit, so this is not all I want, it's just the ones I'm asking for this year:
ReplyDeleteDestined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost / The Cold Kiss of Death by Suzanne McLeod / The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong / City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare / Curse the Dawn by Karen Chance / Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins / My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent / Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews / Chill Factor by Rachel Caine / Midnight’s Daughter by Karen Chance / Midnight Reign by Chris Marie Green / Lament: A Faerie Queen’s Deception by Maggie Stiefvater / Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater / Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston / Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder / Oh. My. Gods. By Tera Lynn Childs / Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender / Play Me by Laura Ruby / Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough / Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev / Red Tears by Joanna Kenrick
I hope this comment doesn't turn out too long. Ohh, to have these books!
Yep, our wishlists look very similar, indeed! I'm a big fan of Geraldine Brooks, so People of the Book is near the top of mine. As if you need more, add Year of Wonders also by Brooks to your list :) It's my favorite book of her's.
ReplyDeletei can send you my copy of the girl with the dragon tattoo when i'm done reading it. gently used.
ReplyDeleteJo...let's just say a book or two that you mentioned may make it's way into 12 Blogs...
ReplyDeleteMonster (<-- ha!): I have People of the Year of Wonders, got it for 25¢, but haven't read it yet.
Velvet: Have I ever told you you're my he-ro...(imagine me in full Bette Midler mode, please. ;p)
amazing wish list! have you ever played nationstates online?
ReplyDeleteThere is so many books I want, but one I really want is Dark Vengeance by Ed Greenwood.
ReplyDeleteI looked at your list alternating between "Ooo, that was a great book!" and "I really want to read that one!"
ReplyDeleteI would be embarrassed to post my book wishlist on here. It does contain every Charles de Lint book I don't already own, and Magic Study. I'll stop there. :-)
Never even heard of nationstates, She.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jo, this is just the books I REALLY want. The full wishlist would have to be wrapped up like Santa's scroll, clocking in at about 10 feet long...
It's me again~ I've emailed you about the giveaway but I think your email account is throwing me out as spam or something! Just send me your mailing info at

ReplyDeleteI really hope you get The City of Dreaming Books, it's a great books. I love Walter Moers.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm hoping I get giftcards to book stores this year so I can spend some time wandering around to discover new stuff. I have a had habit of buying books I put on my Christmas list so now I ask for giftcards instead.
Excellent wishlist! Mine is made of most of those books as well. I may have to borrow this idea for my own blog. :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, my wishlist is so extensive I'm just hoping to get some extra cash this year so I can go out and buy some of them, haha. I keep fawning over books at The Book Depository even though I told myself "no new book purchases till next year." We'll see if I can keep it up, lol.
Just bought myself Paper Towns (and An Abundance of Katherines. And The Looking Glass Wars...) So I can check that one off the list...
ReplyDeleteI need help.
