Occasionally, you'll come across two books with rather similar covers. Whether it's completely coincidental, a sign of trends, or a blatant case of biteritus, the question remains:
who did it better?
Bleeding Violet published January 5, 2010
The Dark Divine published December 22, 2009
The Dark Divine published December 22, 2009
Have you seen any cover-twins? Comment with the titles!
I haven't read TDD yet, but I have a copy at home.
ReplyDeleteI read Bleeding Violet though, and I didn't like it at all (check my blog for review if you wonder why).
So I'll vote for TDD.
I vote for the DD cover. The BV cover seems to sexual for my taste.
ReplyDeleteLove the boxing graphic!
Love this feature :)
My blog
I have both books and my vote goes to The Dark Divine since it's glossy and Bleeding Violet is too dark.
ReplyDeleteBleeding Violet cover is pretty much better! Beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteBleeding Violet is the BEST COVER EVAR!!!!!! Also I haven't read TDD yet but I highly doubt it can top the EPIC that was BV.
ReplyDeleteHm, while Bleeding Violet's cover is gorgeous, I still have to vote for TDD because I like the simplicity. Great picks! :D
ReplyDeleteI vote for Bleeding Violet. It's so gorgeous. The Dark Divine has a lovely cover too and I like the nail polish, but BV is more dark and intriguing and just all around great looking :) (I haven't read either book yet)
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast of The Dark Divine. Bleeding Violet is all just too dark and blends together a little for me.
ReplyDeleteI really like both covers! But I think I would pick TDD, just because it seems that little more intriguing.
ReplyDeleteAs for cover twins, there were those that used the same model photo; Evermore and North of Beautiful. There was another one too, but I've forgotten what it was called.
ReplyDeleteOhh, The Devouring by Simon Holt is similarish to BV and TDD :)
I'll have to go with Bleeding Violet - it just seems richer to me, more haunting and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI like them both and I might pick The Dark Divine but the legs freak me out a bit - weirdly shaped, thin and anorexic looking.
Fun post!
I was thinking the same thing, Alyssa! On first glance, TDD is my hands down fave, but when I really looked, the legs freak me out. Way too skinny.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun idea :)
ReplyDeleteI like The Dark Divine better, love the flow of the fabric.
Gotta give it to TDD. It is just a pretty cover.
ReplyDeleteCover wise, The Dark Divine takes the cake!
ReplyDeleteNo question. The Dark Divine cover is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI had to do a double take of the boxers...I thought it was a picture of m G grandfather. Very cool But alas its not. hehe
ReplyDeleteAs for the covers I cant decide. DD the girls is so contrast to the rest and well BV is clustered
There was another one too, but I've forgotten what it was called.
ReplyDeleteWork from home India
nice article. I would love to follow you on twitter. By the way, did anyone learn that some chinese hacker had busted twitter yesterday again.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Bleeding Violet because I agree the the models legs on The Dark Divine look freakishly thin.
ReplyDeleteI vote for TDD. But I admit I'm totally biased.
