2010 Challenges

Alright.  I'm a sucker.  I said I wasn't going to do this, because I don't have the time and I have a self-imposed challenge to read mostly books I own this year (tbr beast is getting cocky).
But I'm a sucker for a good challenge, and I figured, as long as I only sign up for things that I am likely to read anyway, and as long as I don't feel like I have  to complete them, it won't be an issue. 

So here are the challenges I am participating in for 2010.  Go ahead and laugh now.

To help me tackle the tbr beast.  Elie says "The Bottoms Up Challenge is simple. Each month, take 2-3 titles off the bottom and read them. So that would be...let's see...12-36 books in a year's time. That should make a dent."  My personal goal is fifty books I own.

The Gilmore Girls Reading Challenge makes use of all of the many, many books mentioned on one of my favorite shows.  There are 3 levels of participation: 

Emily: Read 5 books from at least two different categories.
Lorelai: Read 10 books from at least three different categories.
Rory: Read 20 books from at least four different categories.

Rules:

• Read 2 books from each category, making a requirement of 20 books total.
• The categories are intended to be loose guidelines only, if you decide it fits, then it fits. (Apart from those marked **)
• Categories marked with ** have tighter rules, and these must be followed.
• Each book can only qualify for one category.
• Crossovers with other challenges are allowed.
• Books read from 01/01/2010 to 31/12/2010 are eligible.

7. Older Than You Read two books that were published before you were born.
8. Win! Win! Books you need to read for another challenge.

9. Who Are You Again? Authors you've never heard of
10. Up to You!

J. Kaye's YA Reading Challenge

There are four levels:

--The Mini YA Reading Challenge – Read 12 Young Adult novels.
--Just My Size YA Reading Challenge – Read 25 Young Adult novels.
--Stepping It Up YA Reading Challenge – Read 50 Young Adult novels.
--Super Size Me YA Reading Challenge – Read 75 Young Adult novels.

I may switch to Stepping It Up at some point...

This challenge is quite simple..... read the fairy tales you grew up reading but from another view than Disney's version. There are so many great fairy tale books out there, that might take the same story we know but with an added twist.  

The goal for the challenge is to read at least 5; I am aiming for 10.

For now, that is all I am signing up for.  And I think it's enough.  A lot of these overlap with each other and with things I would read anyway, which is the reason I am committing.
