But I'm a sucker for a good challenge, and I figured, as long as I only sign up for things that I am likely to read anyway, and as long as I don't feel like I have to complete them, it won't be an issue.
So here are the challenges I am participating in for 2010. Go ahead and laugh now.
To help me tackle the tbr beast. Elie says "The Bottoms Up Challenge is simple. Each month, take 2-3 titles off the bottom and read them. So that would be...let's see...12-36 books in a year's time. That should make a dent." My personal goal is fifty books I own.
So far:

- Woman Who Rides Like a Man by Tamora Pierce

This challenge is quite simple..... read the fairy tales you grew up reading but from another view than Disney's version. There are so many great fairy tale books out there, that might take the same story we know but with an added twist.
The goal for the challenge is to read at least 5; I am aiming for 10.
So far:
I am considering:
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow-- read- East
Impossible-- read- I, Coriander
- The Frog Prince: A Fairy Tale for Consenting Adults
- Troll Bridge: A Rock and Roll Fairy Tale
- Princess of the Midnight Ball
- The Bloody Chamber
- Beastly
- Ice
For now, that is all I am signing up for. And I think it's enough. A lot of these overlap with each other and with things I would read anyway, which is the reason I am committing.
What am I getting myself in for?
yay! thanks for joining mine - mad men!
ReplyDeletedefinitely read THE ROAD!
i'm planning on adding the bottoms up one to my batch as well. good way to read what's in the tbr pile.
oh yeah, happy reading!
ReplyDeleteLOL, LOL That is a lot of challenges! Great start to the bottoms up! Dont forget to link up. You did so much better than I did, I only read 2 off the bottom.
ReplyDeleteThe dystopian challenge seems awesome, but I just can't juggle that many challenges. I've already set out to read 100 books this year, and I love all types of fantasy, so I'm sure I'll read plenty of dystopias-- but keeping track would be too much hassle.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you, though! Read lots of books and recommend the best ones :)
Welcome to the Young Adult Reading Challenge. I dearly love YA novels and can't wait to see what titles you read this year!
ReplyDeleteadoration of jenna fox was really interesting, but she totally blew the ending for me, which kind of ruined the rest of it. But if you can handle the ending you'll probably enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people seem to complain about the ending. We'll see...
ReplyDeleteI loved reading The Bar Code Tattoo and The Bar Code Rebellion. I thought that they were different and full of original ideas.
ReplyDeleteTamora Pierce is one of my favourite authors and her Alanna series was great.
The Gilmore Girls challenge intrigues me and I just might have to check that out.
Good luck!
