I won this awhile ago, and though I love the cover, think the premise is cool, and have heard good things, I haven't gotten around to it, partly because it is #2 in the series. So, what do you guys think? Any of you read it? Should I cave and pick up the first book so that I can read this?

I like this series a lot. I reviewed them on my blog, but they include spoilers so if you wanna read these books yourself then you might not want to read my reviews. Overall though I think it is a great series.
