1. Do you prefer traditional or modern retellings?
A traditional retelling A modern retelling
2nd, the Total Throwdown question:
2. What fairy tale is next for you? If you could read any of the books mentioned during FTF right now, what would it be?

2nd, the Total Throwdown question:
2. What fairy tale is next for you? If you could read any of the books mentioned during FTF right now, what would it be?
2. If I could be reading any book from FTF, it would be either Entwined by Heather Dixon or Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by (do i really need to say it?) Jessica Day George. They both sound amazing! I guess that answers the other question as well: traditional, please!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I was just putting together a blog post to highlight all the great books added to my reading list because of this event, and let me tell you - it's a crazy long list!! I'm also so excited for Heather Dixon's Entwined. And though they've been on my radar for awhile, I'm officially moving Cindy Pon's Silver Phoenix and Fury of the Phoenix up to the top!
ReplyDeleteI think these days I'm leaning toward modern retellings moreso than traditional, but I adore them both. Thanks for a great event that brought so many new books to my attention!
Modern spins. They help me imagine myself in a fairy tale setting.
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one... but I think right now, I'm leaning more towards traditional!
ReplyDeleteI like the modern retellings but I very rarely love them. I find that they have a much harder time capturing that magical, elusive fairy tale *feeling* that is what make reading these stories worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteTraditional, most definitely for me.
As for which book I'd read right now? Probably Daughter of the Forest. I know I'm cheating, because we haven't actually talked about it yet, BUT it's been on my list forever, I own a copy and it looks great!
