Jane Austen Action Figure from Archie McPhee

Alanna @ The Flashlight Reader
On the subject of RAKs: Thanks so much Alanna for sending me Tuesdays at the Castle!  As for my sent-out RAK, I had intended to do 2 in May, 1 completely random and 1 not-so-random.  I got busy, though, and kept forgetting to go pick the random one and contact them, and I was trying to figure out how to make it a surprise (and not need to contact them, but I don't have everybody's address, so that wasn't working), so I only ended up sending out the not-so-random -- which would have been a surprise, but I opened my mouth.  I can't keep secrets.  At least not when they're mine.
Anywho, my RAK this month went to Ashley, who (along with her sock trade socks (long story)), got I Capture the Castle and If I Stay.
Hope you enjoy, Ashley!
And I'm looking forward to doing more RAKs!

Now, on to the Wrap Up portion of this increasingly long post.  I'm not the only one posting things for Jane in June, and I'm not just talking about guest posts.  There are all kinds of blogs around the interwebs that are finding themselves swept away by the spirit of Jane this month.  Here are some I think you should check out:

*Liz did an Adaptation Corner for Northanger Abbey, comparing the book (which she reviewed last year) with the recent movie adaptation.

*Maria posted an interview with Diana Birchall, author of numerous Austen novels and plays.  The interview also features a giveaway of Birchall's Mrs Darcy's Dilemma - and it ends soon, so make sure to go check it out!  Maria will be posting a steady stream of Janey goodness this month on her Jane Austen Book Club blog.

*Chandra is giving away a pre-order of Jane Austen Made Me Do It, as well as a copy of Jane and the Unpleasantness at Scargrove Manor.  Check it out here.

*All month long, Patricia from Patricia's Particularity has a giveaway running for a copy of Pride and Prejudice (winner's choice of the edition, rules apply).  This giveaway is international, so make sure to check it out, world-friends!

*We also had our first round of responses for the Pride and Prejudice read-along.  You can check out all of the links here, as well as the questions for Round 2 (and you're welcome to join in!)

*And here on The Book Rat we've had quite a few things going on.  Some of the highlights so far include:

  1. An Ultimate Swoon-Off
  2. A guest post and a discussion about Austen variations.
  3. Giveaways for an omnibus edition of Jane's novels, Murder at Longbourn, and 2 copies of The Trouble with Mr Darcy
  4. A Dear Jane letter from Mr Darcy, via author Sharon Lathan
You can check out the rest of the goodies so far here on the JnJ Main Page

  5. I loved Mr Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman by Maria Hamilton. It was so well done and my heart swooned as I conjured up Keira Knightly reprising her role in this one with her Darcy.

Great reads and viva la DARCY!

  6. Thanks, Sharon! I'm basically a big dork, which I've established pretty well in these videos, I think.
But yeah, I am always very enthusiastic when I talk about books. Wouldn't be in this blog game if I didn't love it!

Everyone, make sure you stop by to win most of the things I mentioned up there - if it has a Darcy, it could be yours! ;)
