CLOSED An Interlude: Giveaway of Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

This post...this post is not about Jane Austen.  So why is it in the middle of Jane in June, you ask?
Well, two reasons: 1) it's made of the kind of awesome that typifies Jane in June; 2) it's (partially) set in 18th century London, so as far as I'm concerned, it's apt.  The way I see it, sometimes when you're craving Jane, you're really craving the time period - perhaps this international best seller will do...

But you still want to know why I'm posting about Ruby Red, right?  Oh, that's an easy one: I want to give you a copy.
Check it out:

Ruby Red
Kerstin Gier

Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era! Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon, the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

Courtesy of Zeitghost Media and Macmillan, I can offer one lucky winner a copy of Ruby Red!

  1. Thanks for the giveaway! Minus any time paradoxes, I'd love to time travel, either to places of historical mystery (to solve them!) or to the utopian experiments in America during the 19th century, because those are so interesting.

  2. Time travel is really not for me.
I like todays conveniences like a bathroom and a computer.
    The cover is beautiful.
I would like to win and read this book.

  4. I think it would be awesome to travel through time, as long as I didn't get caught up in any of the drama....I'd just want to be a fly on the wall to see how different things were!

  5. I love reading about time-travel, but don't think I'm brave enough to try it myself. I'd be afraid I wouldn't make it back home. Thanks for the giveaway.

  6. If I don't think about it too much, I'd love to time-travel and see some things in person.

But then I thought about it. About what my favorite time periods were really like (especially for a commoner!) Bathwater and fecal matter in the street, women not allowed to act, and they didn't even wear underwear until sometime in the Renaissance! *shudders*

    I think I'll stay here.

    Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  7. I would love to time travel...I think that I probably fit in the past more than the present to be honest. And since I am a Janeite...guess where I would go!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. I have been fascinated by the concept of time travel since I was a young girl. I love history and the idea of being able to see how it was, live in the era for a spell, meet the historical persons we study, and answer the mysterious blank areas we do not understand is thrilling to imagine. However, I am pretty sure I would not like to live full-time in an era before electricity and indoor plumbing!

This book sounds fabulous. Thanks for the offer.

  9. I would love to time travel! Imagine being able to see important events in history unfold or even simple things like your grandparents as kids. I would do my best to not mess with the time stream because I really would not want to be responsible for any crazy paradoxes.

Now if only I could secure a TARDIS.

  11. So excited to read this! Thanks for the giveaway!

I don't think I'd like to time travel. Too much pressure. Going to the past -- you could alter the choice of history. Going to the future -- well, I think some things we just aren't meant to know.

  28. I'd love the chance to time travel. What an education it would be to go some of the locations where history was being made. I would do that in a heartbeat as long as I could come back to the present every night and sleep in MY bed.

  38. Well, you'd be able to meet 2 of them, Patricia. The other two (Keats and AUSTEN) died before the Victorian era, making them Regency (which I vastly prefer, myself, and is when I'd time travel to. Just saying.)
