A few months ago, I saw the cover for Bethany Wiggins' Shifting and kinda loved it. I had originally planned to do a Face Off between Shifting and Sweet Venom, which had actually already had a Face Off of its own. But then I saw the glorious cover of Kelly Keaton's A Beautiful Evil, and a match made in Face Off Heaven was born. So what do you guys think? Is the chic-Medusa look catchy or creepy? Which would you pick up off the shelves?
Which one did it better?
Last Week on FFO: Reaching Through Time and Return to Paradise went kissy-face to kissy-face, and most of you found it awkward. Fail. But even if the awkward stock photo was a fail, we still have a winnah; better lighting and pretty swirlies made Reaching Through Time triumphant.

A Beautiful Evil for me. The font of the title for Shifting is really pretty, and I like that the snake part of the hair is green, making it stand out. But ABE is more well put together overall, IMO.
ReplyDeleteOooo, I like Shifting. I love the contrast between the gray and the green snake!
ReplyDeleteI like Shifting the best. I also love the green snake contrast!

I pick A Beautiful Evil. I kinda don't love the gray/green... I like that the snake on ABE is a little more subtle, but that it also doesn't need to be green to stand out... I like that the ABE girl is not so close up & I like the detailing at the top. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the font of the title better on Shifting and the snake. yeah, the snakeshead is cool. ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Evil. I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteThis cover also makes me think of Venom.
I think Shifting did it better. The way the black hair ends in a green snake - wow!
ReplyDeleteurgh, this one is a hard one. mmmmm, ok, i'll say shifting. love how the shift also turns into color.
ReplyDeleteA Beautiful Evil for me. I just like it better, though, they are both pretty!
ReplyDeleteA Beautiful Evil did it better!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI like A Beautiful Evil.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Evil is definitely the best by far. I love that cover.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely A Beautiful Evil. The fact that Shifting has this gorgeous black and white cover and suddenly the snake's head is green makes the snake look artificial and cheesy.
ReplyDeleteSHIFTING all the way! But that's not the final cover ;)
ReplyDeleteBoth of these kind of creep me out but although I love the font on Shifting...my pick would be A Beautiful Evil for the coloring.

Oh HAI THERE, Bethany! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think next week I'll do a Face Off with this cover and the final cover (or, I assume it's the final - which I quite like)
