Helluva Halloween Updateyness

So I mentioned in my Helluva Halloween Options post that I wanted to go the supernatural/paranormal/oddball route this year rather than scary (though you know, scary might sneak in), and I have to say, I'm pleased with that decision.  I like how things are shaping up.

So here are a few updatey things:

I am pleased as punch to announces the additions of Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake and Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon to the lineup!

Anna Dressed in Blood in stores August 30th from Tor Teen.
Carrier of the Mark in stores October 4th from HarperTeen.

I'm so, so glad to have both of these books be part of Helluva Halloween!  Both have been Wishlist Wednesday posts in the past (Anna | Carrier)  If you have any questions for Kendare Blake or Leigh Fallon, or requests for what you'd like to see done with these books in addition to reviews (vlog review, teaser post, excerpt, etc) leave a comment!

Updatey Thing 2

As always, I'd like to invite anyone who is interested to be involved in this year's event.  There will be a linky to post your reviews or posts to share, but if you want to be spotlighted here on TBR, please email me and let me know.
This year, since the theme is SuperParaOddball, I would like guest posts, giveaways, etc to fit in with that theme.  In particular, I would love to have guest "lists" from people of things like

  • Favorite supernatural characters
  • Best oddball/quirky characters or stories
  • Best/Worst powers to have
  • Stories that would be better if they had supernatural abilities in them
etc.  Since this is the year of the oddball, feel free to be silly with it.

Updatey Thing 3

I'm still trying to decide between doing a full-month event and something like The 13 Days of Helluva Halloween.  Do you guys want to spread it out and linger a bit, or have 2 action-packed weeks of goodies?
Vote below; if you have another idea, leave a comment!

How long should Helluva Halloween be?

And that's all for HH updateyness.  Hope you guys are as excited as I am

  1. You must read my mind or something... My room theme this year is superheroes. Soooooo, I'll get the kids to do a writing of the best/worst super hero abilities. As a matter of fact, I think that will be one of our first week of school get to know you activities. Thanks for the inspiration! =)

I got my schedules today and it looks like I'll have most of the kids I had last year (same ones that wrote the acrostics during FTF). Should be good.

  2. Have you read the short story anthology Zombies vs Unicorns? I think it would be a fun addition to your event. The stories in the book were fabulous (and some very funny).

  3. I did a few of the stories last year for September Zombies and HH. I definitely want to do more because I liked every single one I read.

Looking forward to seeing what your kids do. :)
