TBR Tuesday is a way to talk about the books we own but haven't read, see what other people think about them, and help us decide whether to bump it up our list or knock it off completely.
[If you're more a book borrower than a book buyer, you're still welcome to participate with the books that you've been meaning to read and haven't!]
On my TBR
The Iron Witch by Karen Mahoney
Fantasy, 290 pages
Published by Flux
Freak. That's what her classmates call seventeen-year-old Donna Underwood. When she was seven, a horrific fey attack killed her father and drove her mother mad. Donna's own nearly fatal injuries from the assault were fixed by magic—the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. The child of alchemists, Donna feels cursed by the magical heritage that destroyed her parents and any chance she had for a normal life. The only thing that keeps her sane and grounded is her relationship with her best friend, Navin Sharma.
When the darkest outcasts of Faerie—the vicious wood elves—abduct Navin, Donna finally has to accept her role in the centuries old war between the humans and the fey. Assisted by Xan, a gorgeous half-fey dropout with secrets of his own, Donna races to save her friend—even if it means betraying everything her parents and the alchemist community fought to the death to protect.

I bought this one not too long after it came out, and I wasn't really sure when I'd have a chance to read it. When I started planning for Helluva Halloween, I thought maybe I'd be able to work it into that, but my list of options and want-tos just kept growing and growing, and this is one of the titles that ended up on the cutting room floor.
What do you guys think of this one? Have you read it? Like, dislike, indifferent?
What's lurking in your TBR pile this week?
I really like this one, but it's clearly part of a trilogy and doesn't feel complete.
ReplyDeleteI spotted this at Borders a few weeks ago and vaguely remembered reading some good reviews, so I snagged it. Now it's on my Leaning Tower of TBR as well.
ReplyDeletePS: Did I tell you I finally read The Hunger Games? And then the rest of the trilogy? And then passed my copy of HG on to another friend who did the exact same thing? Do I earn book karma points now?
Poor gal. I feel bad for her already. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteYes, karma points earned, Nancy. (You loved it, right? See what you were missing! lol)
ReplyDeleteMcPig: Hmm. I think that means it's going to stay in the TBR for awhile...
This sounds wonderful. I can't wait to read it. Right now I have a good stack of TBR's but the one I just started is POSSESSION by Elana Johnson.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I so need to read this one!!!
ReplyDeleteI really liked this book but it does have a bit of a cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteHaven't read this one, but I was gifted a copy. No idea when I'll get to it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I loved it. It was just as amazing as everyone said it was. I burned through the trilogy in three days, and then after I sent it to my friend, she did the same thing.
ReplyDeleteYou know, even though it's great to be able to read a series back to back (especially one that's so cliff hanger-y), I think the anticipation and eagerness of waiting for the next to come out adds to the experience.
ReplyDeleteThis is on my TBR list, too. I had it from the library in the spring, but ran out of time to read it. I gotta get it again.
