Paranormal, 352 pages
June 7th 2011 from Quirk Publishing
A mysterious island.
An abandoned orphanage.
A strange collection of very curious photographs.
It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.
A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

I mentioned yesterday in my interview with Ransom Riggs that there was going to be a chance to win a copy (or 3) of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children; I also mentioned that Ransom created the trailer for the book himself, and that it is awesome. Check it out:
If you were a child at Miss Peregrine's, what would your "peculiarity" be?

I think I would like to be able to make objects appear. Thanks for this giveaway good luck to all!
ReplyDeleteI would be invisible. Yes, for all you know I could be standing right behind you reading over your shoulder. Mwahaha!
ReplyDelete:)
I would say my chosen peculiarity would be vision so bad, being so nearsighted, that I could see microscopically when holding something up to my face. I know it sounds weird but that is close to what my eyesight is like right now. I never even noticed it until I was looking at my contact lens and realized I could seen the texture of it really clearly...totally odd. I would say this would be useful only if you were reading one of those "world's smallest bible" souvenirs. Or trying to tie the shoelaces of an elf...which would be odd to say the least.
ReplyDeleteThanks Misty and keep up the awesome Youtube Reviews!
This book just looks creepy and amazing! Awesome giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOh teleportation yep for sure.
ReplyDeletePersuasion. I would love to be that peculiar.
ReplyDeleteHm... I am not sure ... I think I would like to levitate like the girl in the cover - then I wouldn't get salt stains on my boots!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest! :)

I'd be mistaken for someone else, for someone that the onlooker would expect. Not invisible, but unnoticed.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Mine would be to read minds. I don't know why. It just sounds cool.
ReplyDeleteshutupjessicasreading @ gmaildotcom
I would be able to know what is going to happen in the future.
ReplyDeleteHow about knowing the history or future of objects. Although that could get really old when you could touch anything! Oh well!
ReplyDeleteI would like to be the old fly on the wall and spy on everyone.
ReplyDeleteI follow by google reader.

If I was a student at that school my ability would definitely be telekinesis.
ReplyDeleteMy "peculiarity" would be teleportation. I think to be able to do that whenever and whever would be the coolest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteTeleportation would be my peculiarity.
ReplyDeleteI really want to read this book!
ReplyDeleteAt first, I thought I would choose invisibility as my peculiarity. But teleportation would be the most useful, so that's what I pick.
It's a tie between teleportation and telekinesis, both have really good advantages.
ReplyDeleteOooh my 'peculiarity' would be to control the thoughts of those around me. (Yeah... I'm in one of THOSE moods today!!!)
ReplyDeleteI can't remember if I signed up on the master form!! I'm sure I did!!! Probably... ;)
I would want to be like Shadown Cat in the Xmen and be able to phase thru walls. It would be a whole lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you Misty for all the great reviews!
Teleportation would be my peculiarity for sure. So awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!
Invisibility would be my peculiarity. :)
ReplyDeleteMine would be that my family is so out of the ordinary and i'm so normal that i just had to go somewhere else

I want to be able to read mines :) That would be awesome! I would know what people are really thinking. Well, thanks for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, my peculiarity would be transmutation. So I could turn things from one thing into another. That'd be peculiar, and cool, yet seriously dangerous. I could turn everything into gold...or candy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! :D
Mind-reading or persuasion...definitely. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Misty!
I'd be able to create alternate realities. Ooooh.
ReplyDeleteLindseyAylward@yahoo.com
i would go with mind reading or mind control that would be cool
ReplyDeletekatie_tp(at)yahoo(dot)com
Can my peculiarity be apparating? That's totally stealing canon from Harry Potter... so it should really be teleportation. I am feeling in a much lazy mood today and I don't feel like walking anywhere! Hah!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd just like to add that my brother has been begging me to get this book. Him and reading? Not exactly a match but I'm really happy to hear that he's excited about a book for once.

ReplyDeleteI filled out the master form and my email is hammerwammer@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteMy peculiarity would be that I have super speed.
Shape shifting! How awesome would it be to shift into any animal! I could fly as a bird, gallop as a horse, and dive into the ocean as a whale :)
ReplyDeleteI would have invisiblity! Can sneak up on people and ease-drop then don't have to read minds!
ReplyDeleteShannon Johnson
Teleportation would be my peculiarity!!
ReplyDeleteHm... I think I would want telekinesis to be my peculiarity- it would make everything so much easier! Thanks for the chance to win, I really want to read this one!
ReplyDeleteThe ability to communicate with animals would be pretty cool ^_^
ReplyDeletehmm I think being able to fly would my peculiarity. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I was a child in the school for peculiar children I would be telekinetic. :o) That would be sooo freakin' awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to choose just one. I would like to have compulsion. I think it would come in handy. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteWhile having telekinesis would be awesome, I think I'd prefer to be able to go invisible. It would make scaring people so much more fun...for Halloween that is. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway.
Awesome giveaway. I literally gasped. I want this book so bad. I would love the peculiarity of persuasion...sneaky, yet can be used for good.
ReplyDeleteMine would probably be compulsion(:
ReplyDeleteI would want the power of invisibility, that way you can hear what others are saying about you. If you could read minds that would be horrible because then you just get way too much info.
ReplyDeleteI think 'hyperkinesis' would be great to have, who wouldn't love to have flawless aim, perfect balance, and greatly enhanced motor skills.
ReplyDeleteMine would definitely be invisibility so that I could sneak into the library/bookstore after hours to read the books :)
ReplyDeleteI would be a teleporter! <3
ReplyDeleteDefinitely invisibility! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like to become invisible! This book looks SOOOO cool!
ReplyDeleteI filled out the form for Helluva Halloween.

ReplyDeleteAnd the book looks incredible:)
Hope I win:)
My peculiarity would be enthrallment/persuasion - where I get people to do whatever I want.
Or ESP.
Both come in handy:)
The ability to see every stinkin' insect, no matter how obscure they may be. Oh wait! I already have that peculiarity! How about an unnatural sense of smell? Wait! Already got that, too! Forget it. I'm already peculiar enough!
ReplyDeleteawesome trailer! hmm...how about to be good/excel in anything :D
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteAyushi
telekinesis
ReplyDeleteAyushi

ReplyDeleteI would be able to manipulate time - pause it, fast forward as well as rewind time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to read minds. :) I hate not knowing what people truly think (or maybe I'm just paranoid).
oh gosh, I don't know what my peculiarity would be! I think it would probably be telekinesis, only because I am so lazy that I would love to move things without getting up! Or teleportation because that way, I can go wherever I want. It's like being your own personal plane!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... if I were a child at Miss Peregrine's home, my peculiarity would puking free books and then reading them... okay... I'm a book lover, but this would still be too weird! xD
ReplyDeleteMy peculiarity would be one of two things: 1)The power to go invisible at will. I like to be alone at times. 2) Control time with my mind. Although this power is very dangerous, I am responsible and know when it's wrong to use it. ^^
