I've had Robin Wasserman's The Book of Blood and Shadow on my wishlist for awhile now (pretty much as soon as I heard the title, 'cause, I mean, obvs). But as much as I love some of the little details of the first (US) cover - that eye! - I have to say, I am much more taken with the second (UK) cover. They definitely have very different feels, with one being rather unsettling and the other more typical, but also a little more magical. So what say you? Which one would you reach for on the shelves?
Which one did it better?
Last Week on FFO: I got a little over-eager, apparently, and the Face Off for A Temptation of Angels and Secrets After Dark went up a day early. So after an 8-day Face Off, my personal favorite, A Temptation of Angels, managed to snag a win. Many of you liked the bright font on SAD, but in the end it just wasn't enough.Winnah ------->
I definitely prefer the UK cover in this one. It might be a bit more typical, but I prefer the colours, and I'd be more likely to pick it up in a book shop.

ReplyDeleteI'm with you. The first has an edgier feel but the UK cover is magical. I vote UK.
ReplyDeleteI look at it and wonder where she's running and what she's running from. That ultimately makes me want to read it more.
ReplyDeleteI think I prefer the cover on the UK edition and it does make it look much more magical. It's tough because in this case I think I'd have to read the book and then look at the covers again to decide which one fits the story better.
ReplyDeleteI also prefer the UK one. I actually think the face cover is more of what you see these days and the UK one is more unique. I love the colors (TEAL AND PURPLE!) and the tag line is really intriguing. I kind of wish I could buy the UK one now...

ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, the UK cover. The US cover doesn't appeal to me at all. But I love the colors and the background of the UK cover, not to mention the font!
ReplyDeleteThe US cover is a little on the boring side for me. I like the colorful UK cover best. Most of the time the UK covers leave a lot to be desired but in this case it's a definite win.

ReplyDeleteMy vote goes for the UK cover, for sure! It catches my eye more than the US cover. I'd probably gloss over the US cover in a book store, but the colors and the "swirly fog" of the UK version would cause me to at least pick up the book to read the synopsis.
ReplyDeleteI'm also intrigued by the tagline on the UK version. Usually I think taglines are super cheesy, and I don't like them. But...not this time. Centuries of secrets?! I want to hear about them!
