But then I got to thinking - why not just make Coming Attraction a regular feature? I mean, there are plenty of books out there that I want to spotlight and don't get a chance to for WW, and really, why confine the discovery of new and potentially awesome books to just one day a week?
I mean, I'm constantly coming across things that look interesting, and there are tons more books that I see that I may never pick up, but that I think you may want to pick up. So I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to continue to bombard you with the awesome books I come across in my obsessive book-seeking-outness. And when I'm able, I'll try to give you an excerpt or some tidbit, too. =)
And so, since I was a big fan of All These Things I've Done, I thought we'd kick off the first non-FTF Attraction with the sequel:
Because It Is My Blood by Gabrielle Zevin
368 pages
Dystopian/Post-ApocalypticExpected publication: September 18th 2012 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR)
In a thrilling new novel about a reluctant mobster, Anya tries to shatter the ties that bind—with deadly consequences
Since her release from Liberty, Anya Balanchine is determined to follow the straight and narrow. Unfortunately, her criminal record is making it hard for her to do that. Plus, all the people in her life have moved on: Natty has skipped two grades at Holy Trinity, Scarlet and Gable seem closer than ever, and even Win is in a new relationship. But when old friends return demanding that certain debts be paid, Anya is thrown right back into the criminal world that she had been determined to escape. It's a journey that will take her across the ocean and straight into the heart of the birthplace of chocolate where her resolve—and her heart—will be tested as never before.
