I spy with my little eye...
A very popular stock photo!!
So, as always, which one did it better?
Last Week (erm, two weeks ago) on FFO: The covers of Alethea Kontis' Enchanted and Gwen Hayes' Dreaming Awake went pretty dress-to-dress in a Face Off that used photos that were clearly from the same set, though not the same photo (and used to different effect).
The winner by far was Enchanted, which Enbrethiliel pointed out would get called early on America's Next Top Model, whereas Dreaming Awake would be in the bottom two... ;)

I like The Treachery of Beautiful Things more, even though trying to understand the title gives me a headache.
ReplyDeleteTreachery. It's the flowers. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Treachery of Beautiful Things! It looks lighter, has a nicer font and the most beautiful colours... And, as Juju said... oh-the-flowers! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I have to agree with everyone else so far and go with Treachery of Beautiful Things. It did it best.
ReplyDeleteSecond is Chosen because of the blue. The Hedgewitch Queen is just boring.
I love that the model looks unique (aka possible non-white? maybe?), but she needs to eat some sandwiches. Look at her bony arms!
You know what, I though I liked the first and third covers best, but upon reflection (the philosopher in me is coming out), I've come to the conclusion that HOLY GRACIOUS I flipping LOVE the cover for "Chosen". I'm a blue girl, all the way, and that cover is just stunning.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice for FFO!!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for quoting me! =D
My first choice was The Hedgewitch Queen because it looks the least fake . . . but then I thought about it some more and realised that the cover tells us nothing about what to expect from the story. And it's kind of awkward that the model looks as if she's reading the author's name. =P
So I'm going with The Treachery of Beautiful Things. It may look totally photoshopped, but the ominous, shadowy background and creeping vines in the foreground seem to reflect the title. And the model's looking over her shoulder shows that she suspects some treachery as well! It all means something and isn't just pretty.
Oh dear me, popular indeed. I want to say A Treachery of Beautiful Things, but part of me worries I'm being biased towards the one of these books I'd heard of/is on my TBR. Still, the intermixing of the flowers, along with the concept brought on by the title make a dress in the woods seem more fitting for this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for Treachery of Beautiful Things because I really like the use of flowers.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to note, that while the same stock photo, all three dresses are different colors.
