CLOSED Humongous FAIL on my part: GIVEAWAY & GUEST POST from JL Bryan (a week late...)

Ugh.
Alright, as you already know, a couple of my posts for Fairy Tale Fortnight got eaten by a hungry, hungry hippo Blogger, and I am working to rewrite/recover them.  But I was struck by something mere moments ago, as I was working on compiling the list of winners for FTF - I had a guest post and giveaway from JL Bryan (you know, he wrote Jenny Pox, whose cover I lurve), and I forgot to give it a home.  You see, I'd intended to send it Ashley's way, or have one of us take the post and one take the giveaway, and though I think I told her this in the beginning of the planning, by the end of the event, I'd completely forgotten it somehow.

So this is COMPLETELY my fault (mea cupla!), and I am terribly sorry that this awesome guest post was missed, and that you guys are just now getting a chance to enter to win this prize pack.
I'll waste no more of your time.  Check out the awesome, and forgive my fairy tale-addled brains!

(Author’s note: Fairy music and the fairy world play a central role in my Songs of Magic series.  Because of the powerful and magical nature of the music, Queen Mab of Faerie, as well as the Musicians’ Guild, use the law to control the playing of music.  What follows is a page from the Musicians’ Guild newsletter, which illustrates the place of music in fairy society...)

No Magic Instruments Have Been Stolen from Faerie
The Fairy Herald and the Elvish Enquirer ran a statement from the Queensguard quashing recent rumors about humans sneaking into Faerie and stealing away enchanted musical instruments. “We keep the gates between man-world and Faerie sealed tight,” Captain Icarus of the Queensguard told reporters. “Between the Queensguard’s efforts here in Faerie, and the Queen’s guardians who watch the other sides of the gates over in man-world, there’s just no way for humans to enter our realm.  There’s also no way for Folk to leave Faerie, so don’t even try it, or we’ll cut you with our iron, seriously.  No one breaks Queen Mab’s laws and gets away with it, whether they’re Folk or human.”

Penalty Raised For Unauthorized Playing, Composition
Queen Mab’s Persecutor-General recently announced an increase in the penalty for musicians who play unauthorized music.  A first offense now brings nine years of hard labor in the Queen’s gold and silver mines, instead of the previous three-year penalty.  Repeat offenders will either be cast into the Queen’s labyrinth or suffer death by tickling.

“The Guild fully supports this new law,” said Hymnia the Bell-Ringer, the current Head Chair-Sitter of the Musicians’ Guild. “Traditional music must be carefully preserved for future generations.  We can’t simply let music run wild, and we won’t hesitate to expel any Guild member who plays unapproved music.”

The penalty for composing new music without the express written approval of both the Queen and the Guild has also been raised, from death to double-death.  After the initial execution, the Queen’s conjurers will now raise the guilty party from the dead for a second (usually messier) execution.

New Dancing Hall Opens in Old Avalon
After much anticipation, the Lotus Lily has opened on Morgainia Boulevard in Old Towne Avalon, the official historic district of Sidhe City.  The new dancing-hall is expected to breathe new life into  the Faerie capital’s drowsy music scene.

“We all appreciate looking at the old stone towers with their big colored-glass windows, and the gardens and the ancient apple orchards and all that,” said Gizwick Jinkspindle, the gnome who created the new hall. “This whole area of town was stripped from Glastonbury Tor and moved here when all the fairies left man-world centuries ago.  I know the history, I respect it.  But our ancestors had constant fairs, revels, and carnivals in Avalon!  So we honor them by partying here.  This whole part of town was starting to feel too much like a museum.”

Auditions: The Lotus Lily is currently holding auditions for troupes and singers.  Perfect replication of Middle to Late Classical Tunes is required, including madrigals, hop-dance numbers, kissy songs, and sing-a-bouts.

J.L. Bryan is the author of The Paranormals series (Jenny Pox, Tommy Nightmare, Alexander Death) and the Songs of Magic series:
