June TBR Vlog + linky

These are the books I plan to read in June. I think from now on, to keep myself from overshooting and/or feeling boxed in, I'm going to give 4-5 books for my monthly TBR and if (hopefully when) I finish them, I will be free to read whatever suits my fancy. Here's to hoping I stick to that plan...

  3. Ohhh you moved Jane In June!

Also? I am looking forward to Because It Is My Blood and seeing what you think of it.

And also I want to do one of these but it's SO late in the month. Sigh.

  4. I'm looking foward to your Jane in August event! You completely won me over in this video. I wasn't such a fan of Pride and Prejudice because of the old-style language. Now I can't wait to get my hands on some of those retellings. Any recommendations for someone like me who had trouble with the language?

  5. I'd say if you go for a modern retelling, the language shouldn't be a problem.
THOUGH when it comes to language, I always tell people that they just have to plug through until they develop an ear for it. It's like watching a movie where everyone has an accent: if you keep stopping, you'll never get used to the accent and it will never make sense. But if you keep going and just let yourself get used to it, suddenly you'll find you're not even struggling anymore.

  6. Thanks for the advice. The weird thing is I got Charlotte Bronte no problem but I was struggling with Jane Austen. I'm going to see if I can find a modern retelling to read from the library and hopefully join you for the read-a-long to get more "practice" in (Persuasion really does sound enticing to me - if that wins I'm in!).
