It's a new month, my lovelies, and that means new books!
(For all of you that found me through the madness that was Austen in August, I'm sad to tell you there is no Austen in this months pile - but stick around, maybe you'll find something you like!)
As always, there is a linky at the bottom for you to share your monthly Rewinds/Wrap-ups and TBRs, so feel free to share your vlogs and blogs!
First up, my August Rewind!

Audrey's Guide to Witchcraft is awesome! I'm actually doing a giveaway of it right now in my blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading,
Leigh | Little Book Star
I liked Babe in Boyland. I found it very cute.
ReplyDeleteI loved Stormdancer. It's my favorite book of the year so far. I also just finished the Diviners and quite enjoyed it. Monstrous Beauty was a beautiful book and Babe in Boyland was a lot of fun. You have a great stack for this month. Enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteLovely book haul!
ReplyDeleteStormdancer looks cool. =)
*Here's my book haul, which includes the books that I got for review this week.

I'm interested in Valente's "The Girl Who..." series, you make them sound so charming! + The covers and trailers are beautiful. But I'm not certain whether I would like it or not.
ReplyDeleteFor example, I don't like Alice In Wonderland - not a fan of that much randomness. Do you think I could still ejoy "The Girl Who..."? Is it very random or more tightly plotted?
Ooo I can't wait to read your full review of Crewel- I am currently about three quarters of the way through it and I am absolutely HATING it! I know you didn't hate it...but you're the only person on my Goodreads who has given it less than 4 stars so maybe we share some grievances! I will be writing my review later today so it will be interesting to compare!
ReplyDeleteMaija - it's definitely reminiscent of Alice, but I'd say it's more plotted/less random. It's lightly random, sort of charmingly so, but the randomness has more of a purpose, I think.
ReplyDeleteIf you're not a fan of quirkiness though, it's probably not the book for you.
Pocket - I came close to hating it at times. I almost gave it 1 star, and I think what bumped it to 2 was just the uniqueness of the concept, and not the execution.
Kara - I'm about 2/3 of the way through Stormdancer and really liking it. It was a rough beginning, though, and I almost set it down and gave up on it...
Wow great list! I MUST read The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There, Every Day and Vessel! :)
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that I am currently reading Girl of Nightmares and LOVING it! :)
ReplyDeleteNo, quirkiness is fine! Feeling more confident about picking that book up now. Thanks, Misty!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have to say that I was disappointed with Monstrous Beauty and they even changed the cover from that beautiful one to a very lackluster one. But maybe you'll love it.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Every Day, It's my first by him too and it's very good. I might just do a vlog of my recent books and link up. Is it too late?

Have you read Shatter Me yet? I'm at Chapter 10 and it's very close to a DNF for me right now...I don't know if I should push past my annoyance with certain things and keep on reading, and I thought I'd check your take on it for the answer, as we tend to have very similar feelings about the same books. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI read a tiny bit of it, maybe 50 pages or so, but ended up having to put it down due to time. I liked what I read, but again, I didn't get very far. I know a lot of people tended to love it or hate it, with lots of the hate side of the spectrum, so unfortunately I can't give you any help on that other than to say you wouldn't be the only one.
DeleteThanks so much! (wow, you're quick with the comments! yay!)
DeleteHaha! Not always, sometimes I'm painfully slow. I just happened to have logged into my email right after you'd commented. =D
