Y'all, this girl...this girl is a vey popular cover model. I know I've seen her on many a book, but this week we're focusing on Rachel Cohn's Very LeFreak and Wendy Delsol's Flock. There are some pretty heavy edits between the two, and they certainly give impressions of two very different books, so I'm curious which you think you'd find yourself reaching for on the shelves.
Which one did it better?
Last Week on FFO: Stock images from Rain Village and A Blue So Dark went head to head, and for the second week in a row, we have a dead tie.

I'm going to go with Rachel Cohn's book because she looks more natural. I think it is important for girls to look more natural especially given most of these books are for teens.
ReplyDeleteI like Flock better. The birds and sky in the background are more interesting to me than just the girl.
ReplyDeleteRachel Cohn's book for sure! I like the lighting and the angle much much better. Her hair is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI've gotta give my vote to Flock. I'm not entirely sure the cover of Very LeFreak says anything freaky at all. The gal on the front looks...normal.
ReplyDeleteI like the colors on Flocks more, but then orange is my favorite color. The birds and the sky are a nice touch too :)

I like the closeness of Le Freak but I vote Flock. It's more dramatic.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the Rachel Cohn cover. They airbrushed out all the model's freckles on the Flock cover! What's with the freckles hate? The model looks much more natural and beautiful with them.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the freckle thing too!! Rachel's book definitely suits the model better, and I like Very LeFreak as a title - it makes me want to know what it's about. Maybe I'm a little biased because I'm a big fan of Rachel Cohn though :)
ReplyDeleteVery LeFreak.
ReplyDeleteMy first reaction is to pick up Flock because it looks more mystical and fantasy like, but then I look at the titles and feel inclined to investigate Very LeFreak.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to weigh in before I declare this FFO closed:
ReplyDeleteI'm voting Very LeFreak. Setting aside that the title intrigues me, I like the cropping and the natural feel on this one better. Flock isn't pretty enough, until you realize that they've gone a little heavy-handed on the airbrushing and lost some of the shadows and angles of the models face, making it look a little flat and leonine in comparison.
