ReplyDeleteHmmm that's a tough one, there are so many intriguing choices! I just reread Northanger Abbey, though, so I'm going to go with Eleanor Tilney, because at the end of the novel you get so many enticing hints about this long term romance that suddenly comes to fruition, but there's no details at all! It's got to be a story worth hearing, though, given that she's more the form of the heroine that Austen jokes about through the entire novel, and whom Catherine is disqualified for, given that her parents are alive and sensible folks. Hmmm I just noticed that too. I'm glad you asked this question, cause we're talking about it at book club on Tuesday and now I have a great point to make! :D

ReplyDeleteI'm honestly not the biggest Jane Austen fan, but I love the Regency/Victorian eras, and also tongue-in-cheek non-fiction books like this. This seems like it would be right up my alley, and I would be overjoyed to win and would most definitely read and review it! =D
ReplyDeleteOh, and if I could meet any Austen character it would have to be Marianne Dashwood from Sense & Sensibility. I'm probably the only person who will say that, but I loved her romantic and innocent outlook on life. She seems like such a sweet and enjoyable person to be around, and she also reminds me a little of myself when I was a teenager.
ReplyDeleteOther than the obvious, Mr. Darcy...I think I would like to meet Elizabeth Bennet. I wish I could be more like her. I'm more of an Elinor Dashwood. I think Elinor and I would be good friends, but I would hope Lizzy's wit and intelligence would rub off on me! ;)

But Elizabeth Bennet is a good candidate, though the answer may be boring. ;) She'd always have something interesting to say, probably wouldn't get in a snooty or disagreeable mood, and wouldn't be too shy. I like shy people, but you have to take more time with them and I probably wouldn't have that time. Heehee.
