And the time is now...
(Yeah, that sounded ominous. Good stuff ahead, I promise!)
*You've probably heard this... but if not, THERE'S A GIANT FLIPPING WET-SHIRT DARCY hanging out in London's Serpentine. Road trip!
*You also probably know by now, but Jane Austen is set to grace the 10-pound note. While I was busy sitting here in the states, being jealous of the UKs cool money, people in the UK were basically losing their shit, even sending death-threats to the feminist campaigner who helped bring our Jane to the note. Seriously.
Also, people were amused by the choice of quote for the note, which may seem a little ironic if you're a Janeite. (But I don't care, 'cause all I heard was: JANE AUSTEN'S GONNA BE ON MONEY.)
*I've seen this comic set from Hark, A Vagrant around before, and I laugh every time and then promptly forget it exists until the next time it pops up. This time, it was (re)brought to my attention VampirellaninGuncesi, who shared it on facebook.
Ahh, the tribulations of Jane... ;)
(And if you've never checked out Hark, A Vagrant, you should. Lots of clever, hilarious literary-based comics pop up with regularity!)
*The Huffington Post & Riffle teamed up to bring you 10 Essential Books for Jane Austen Lovers, including one I want to get my hands on (Jane Austen's England), and one I was tempted to run away with when I saw it at ALA:
*HuffPo also highlighted 13 Reasons You Wouldn't Want to Live in Jane Austen's England. Teeth-stealing grave-robbers? No thanks.
*And hat-tip on this last one goes to Margaret C. Sullivan, who tweeted me the link to it just last night, and I had to add it in. Enjoy!
Hope you enjoyed this portion of Jane in Your Interwebs!
There's more to come, so if you see some awesome Austen thing, tell me about it!

I LOVE that Darcy in the Serpentine. Sign me up for that road (uh, boat) trip! The ten pound Jane note is pretty cool, too. Gotta love P&P!
ReplyDeleteOh gods, I'm guilty... "Plus there's a time machine..."

The Jane Austen Old Spice Parody was awesome! "I have a puppy."
ReplyDeleteThese are great gems. I knew about the first two, but not the rest. Thanks!
