Just sayin;. ;P) And don't forget to check out my reading of the beginning of The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw!

ABOUT THE BOOK:
The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw by Christopher Healy Get It | Add It
Middle Grade Adventure/Retelling, 320 pages Published April 29th 2014 by Walden Pond Press
The League of Princes returns in the hilariously epic conclusion to the hit series that began with Christopher Healy's The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom, which the Los Angeles Times called "one of the more clever, hilariously successful incarnations of the current literary rage to rip apart and rewrite fairy tales." Prince Liam. Prince Frederic. Prince Duncan. Prince Gustav. You think you know those guys pretty well by now, don't you? Well, think again. Posters plastered across the thirteen kingdoms are saying that Briar Rose has been murdered—and the four Princes Charming are the prime suspects. Now they're on the run in a desperate attempt to clear their names. Along the way, however, they discover that Briar's murder is just one part of a nefarious plot to take control of all thirteen kingdoms—a plot that will lead to the doorstep of an eerily familiar fortress for a final showdown with an eerily familiar enemy.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Christopher Healy is the author of the Hero's Guide trilogy: The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom, The Hero's Guide to Storming the Castle, and coming in spring 2014, The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw. I love Val Jeanval's character design and all the Les Mis jokes.
ReplyDeleteI love these sneak peek at the characters, lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteI read the first book in this series and loved it. I can't wait to read the rest!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this series and was lucky enough to get to read a digital galley. The galley didn't have all of the illustrations so this is the first time I've seen Val Jeanval....he's nothing like I had him pictured. I've hinted to the publisher (Walden Pond Press) on FB that they should release trading cards for the characters. I'd love to see the books made into movies.
ReplyDeleteOops! Forgot to comment on your reading which was amazing. These books are really great read-aloud books....fun for the reader as well as the listeners.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious - Val Jeanval! I loved the first two books (especially the illustrations) and can't wait to check out the third. Thanks for a chance to win - and meet all these new characters!
ReplyDeleteHero's Guide is a really cute and funny series of books, I'm really glad that they're coming out with a new book and it has this amazing character that beats people with bread! THAT IS THE BEST KIND OF CHARACTER!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Val Jeanval fan. The guy can bench press a cow, what more do you want?!
ReplyDeleteI legit read this whole post with "Look DOWN! Look DOWN!" playing in my head. If this Les Mis LOL is the least of the hilarity in this book, then it's a book I'm really going to have to read. XD
ReplyDeleteZOMG! I love the Les Mis jokes! I just finished the first book in this series and I can't wait to read the next two!
ReplyDeleteSo they ARE making a movie from this series!!!! (It's in the author's bio) I read all three of these books back to back and laughed harder than I have since I was a kid. I kept telling my husband that the people who buy movie rights are all idiots for not pouncing on these books. I'm glad to know we have some intelligent people working at Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios. :)
ReplyDeleteHA! What a fun book trailer! I'm intrigued… ^^ Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAll four of my children have become entranced with the book series and did a happy dance yesterday when the third book arrived! We've read through chapter eight already so we've not yet met Val Jeanval. Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the first two books, but it looks like a series I need to start.
ReplyDeleteVal Jeanval! Such a great name. It gives the henchman Redshirt from book 2 a run for his money on character name.
ReplyDeleteAssault with a stale baguette- one of the best visuals I've gotten in a long, long time. Plus, the Les Miserables reference. Plus, the fact that I've been waiting to read book 1 for MONTHS, because the library has over 100 holds on the single copy of Hero's Guide that they have. :(
ReplyDeleteHA! This alone "Pled guilty to assaulting twelve royal soldiers with a stale baguette" makes me want to read the series. I love middle grade humor.
ReplyDeletelol I haven't read a middle grade story ina long time but this one sounds hilarious :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't get that Val Jeanval joke immediately. I console myself knowing I at least got it before reading his parents' names. I can't wait to read this book! A stale baguette? Seriously?! I LOVE this series. =)
ReplyDeleteI like her, she sounds awesome, just reading about her made me laugh! :)
ReplyDeleteThe goal from there is to develop the main tension, lock hero in the predicament, propelling hero into a new direction to obtain a goal. hero reluctance
