Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! |
Anyway, there are multiple books whose covers I want as posters (and some that I have!); the hard part, actually, is narrowing it down to just ten. And I'm sure I'll think of some I should have included instead or in addition to the ones shown below, but for now, here are some of my favorites, which I would proudly display on my walls.
BURN BRIGHT. But the AUS version, which has a bright raspberry color for the font, that does this amazing thing where it feels like silk, and when you move the book, I swear to you, it actually shines. But not in a mirror metallic way, but like it's GLOWING. I can't even take it.
(And I do have this as a poster, actually. But I want it to have the velvety feel and amazing glow of the cover!)
THE UNDERTAKING OF LILY CHEN. This entire graphic novel is filled with things I want as wall art, but the cover ranks at the top. Bonus points for being a dual-image cover (it's mountains, it's a skull; it's mountains, it's a skull; it's mountains...), 'cause I love those.
The old VICIOUS DEEP cover. Yes, I know that some people didn't like this cover, and I know that the final cover suits the book much better, but all I could think when I saw this for the first time was how much I wanted it on my wall. And I still do.
The new, beautiful version of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES from Sourcebooks Fire. They've released the entire line like this, and I need them all. (And I actually do have this one as a poster!)
INK. Clearly I'm a fan of watercolor covers. Loooooooooove this.
CONJURED. I love a simple, striking, memorable image, and this one ranks up there as one of my absolute favorites. Tell me that's not begging to be made into a poster.
MADAPPLE. Not just the front cover of this, but then entire wrap-around is just meant to be a poster on my walls. It's dark and weird and a little unsettling, and it's utterly gorgeous.
TENDER MORSELS. I love the soft, muted style of this cover, though it'd maybe be a weird book to have represented in a kids room, doesn't it look just perfect for a fairy tale-ish kids bedroom poster?
THE BLESSED, but the reverse cover. Or maybe both together, side by side like this. Creepy AF, but I love it.
PAPER VALENTINE. I love the intricate papercut style of this. Beautiful.
and anything by JASON CHAN, ever. Of course, there are many, many more (I have an entire looooong list!), but these are just some of my top faves that would translate well to posters.
What are some of yours?
Paper Valentine does have a pretty amazing cover. I should have thought of that one when I was compiling my list. I also really love the Vicious Deep cover. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat list, Misty!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes that Vicious Deep cover. So many people seemed to find it cheesy, but I think it's gorgeous.
DeleteWell, now I completely want to go through all the books on my shelves and do a Top Ten for Posters pick. I think I know where my next two hours are going...
ReplyDeleteFind any good ones? ;)
DeleteVery striking choices! I like water colors too and have always enjoyed Impressionist Art.
ReplyDeleteThey're just so striking! And watercolor covers make such good choices for wall art, because they're already 1/2 way there based on the medium alone.
DeleteI'd love to have the covers of the *Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon* mangas as wall art.

Also, I have to agree with you about *The Blessed*. I loved the original covers on that book.
Glad to hear you say that! So many people seem to be freaked out by them, and so can't appreciate them. I *like* that they're creepy and weird, and I love that combined with the clean composition. Very cool.
