#WednesdayYA September Book Club Pick...

It's the first Wednesday of a new month, which can mean only one thing — it's time to announce our #WednesdayYA book club read for the month!
Liz and I debated back and forth quite a bit on this one, because on the one hand, we probably should have waited to choose this book, and on the other...it's a damn good book, and we're impatient. So, instead of waiting until it's nearly time for the sequel to come out, which would be the sensible thing to do, we've decided that September will be the month that we read . . .

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
Fantasy, 512 pages
Published July 10th 2012 by Random House Books for Young Readers
In her New York Times bestselling and Morris Award-winning debut, Rachel Hartman introduces mathematical dragons in an alternative-medieval world to fantasy and science-fiction readers of all ages. Eragon-author Christopher Paolini calls them, "Some of the most interesting dragons I've read in fantasy."

Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high.

Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered—in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift, one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life.

That's right, it's Seraphina time! You guys probably already know how I feel about this book, 'cause after I read it, I pushed it. A lot. And have been pushing it even since. So it didn't take much arm twisting from Liz to get me to agree to reread it when she said she was interested.
I know there are quite a few of you out there who've read and loved this, and a bunch of you who've been MEANING to read this, so I sincerely hope you'll come chat with Liz and I about it through out the month, but especially at our Twitter Chat on the last Wednesday of the month, September 24th, at 8:30 pm EST.
Hope to see you there!
