Introducing the January, 2015 #WednesdayYA Book Club Pick!

As Liz and I mentioned in our retrospective live show (so fun!) last month, we're kicking off a brand new year of #WednesdayYA book club with a book we *almost* read as the first choice last year! Apparently we have a thing about starting the year off with dystopias... Maybe something about the barrenness of the landscape, or the winter SADs? WHATEVS, this month's book is one I've been wanting to read for a long time, and have heard endless good things!
We'll be reading...

Legend by Marie Lu!
305 pages
Published November 29th 2011 by Putnam Juvenile
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Because we — and many of you — seemed to like the way the live show went last time, and because it gives more of you an opportunity to participate (even if you can't make it to the chat, you can still see everything that happened and chime in!), we've decided we're going to continue that into the new year! This month's discussion will be hosted on Liz's youtube channel, where you can chat along right there on the page, ask your questions to us, talk about us with other chatters...
But if you're more comfortable with it, you can also follow along and chat on Twitter, same as always. We'll be manning both fronts, and trying to engage and answer as many of you as possible.

As always, the monthly discussion will take place on the last wednesday of the month, at 8:30 EST, so in this case, it will be on
Wednesday, January 28th

We hope to see a lot of you there, whether you're reading it for the first time along with us, or you've read it before and just want to chime in. But if you can't make it, rest assured the video will be shared and available for your thoughts and comments the following day.
Until then, pick up a copy of Legend and join the #WednesdayYA book club!
