GIVEAWAY: Hand Lettered & Painted Jane Austen Quotes!

Please note the cat face that snuck in at the last moment ------>

Anyone who has followed me for any length of time likely knows that I like to get my hands into every crafty or artsy thing I can -- and am slightly obsessed with both watercolors and hand lettering. I've given away watercolors on the blog before, both for AIA and for Fairy Tale Fortnight, and have showcased and Christmas-gifted phrases hand-lettered directly on pages from my books. (Here's one from Harry Potter, to give you an idea!)

It's safe to say, it's a bit of an obsession.

I've put together a few of my favorite, most Pinterest-worthy short Austen phrases + simple watercolor floral wreaths, for this year's artsy giveaway, and now is your chance to win one! And because I've always felt like "sharing" a giveaway is counterproductive to a lot of people (after all, if I share it, that means more entries, which means less a chance for me to win), the more entries this gets, the more of these I'll make and give away. And maybe I'll whip up some of those hand-lettered actual book pages I was telling you about, too!

****GIVEAWAY****

I'm giving away four (4) five (5) six (6) seven (7)! hand-lettered watercolor Jane Austen quotes to four (4) five (5) six (6) seven (7) eight (8) NINE (9) lucky winners! And for this one, since I'm making it myself, the sky's the limit, so for each 100 entries this gets, I'll add in another painting & winner! (or lettered book page & winner!)

These are NOT prints. They are directly lettered and painted onto Canson 140lb watercolor paper by me (within the last week or so, in fact!), so if you don't post it up somewhere, make sure to store it properly -- if it gets wet, the paint may well reactivate and run!

Watercolor quotes are standard 5 x 7. Book pages are similar, but slightly irregular (having been cut out of a book, and all that).

This giveaway is INTERNATIONAL.

Ends September 10th at 11:59 pm EST

Fill out the Rafflecopter to enter.
Good luck!

  3. They are lovely, very beautiful! I really like them all and the ones on the links. I love the flowers but a quote came to mind that I believe it will be a funny watercolour: "reading one book is like eating a potato chip" by Diane Duane, what do you think?
By the way, thank you for doing the giveaway.

    1. Thanks! And no, I don't, though if I ever get around to making enough of a stockpile of random things that I think are actually worth someone's money, I'll likely make a society6/etsy/redbubble/something. =D

  6. Your watercolors and quotes are lovely. I already get to admire one of your watercolors that's up on my wall that I one last year. Whimsical kitty. ;)

Here's a possibility for a quote, but I would be equally pleased with one you've already made:
"There is nothing like staying at home, for real comfort." J. Austen

  9. Oh I love these! And I love the way you have photographed them <3 I think I love the "I always deserve the best treatment..." one, or the one Sophia Rose mentioned above about home! Tbh any of them would be lovely - I am just moving house so have an eye out for pretty things to put on the walls :D

  12. There are so many good quotes! Of those 4 I do like "My heart is, and always will be, yours" (even though apparently it's not actually from the book!) because I love that scene in the 1995 version. The Emma quote is excellent too :D

I'm also a fan of "Till this moment, I never knew myself" and "Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure" from P&P, and "If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more" from Emma. And of course there are a bunch of longer quotes that would not fit onto a watercolour page, lol (such as the famous "truth universally acknowledged" one).

Thanks so much for the giveaway, Misty -- those watercolours are absolutely gorgeous!!

    1. It's not! But I love it and so many others love it that I included it anyway. I also thought about the famous "You have bewitched me, body & soul" from 2005 P&P, but I didn't want to go to movie heavy. Maybe I'll include it on one of the add ins... =D

    2. One that's a movie-only quote that I love is an obscure one from the 1980 P&P mini-series, in which Mr. Bennet asks Mary for her opinion on whether Kitty times her coughing ill, and Mary replies haltingly, "One coughs when one must, does not one?" So hilarious, and I still throw that around in conversation sometimes with my family, when one of us has a coughing fit XD
