Help me break my funk! What do you do to get yourself back into a happy reading habit, or to make yourself fall in love with books again when you've sort of fallen out?
Also, recommend me things! What one book, hyped or not, should I add to my list for the "fated books" video/series?
A Face Like Glass
Words in Deep Blue
Wolf, vol 2
Yes Please
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
S-Town
Let's Pretend This Never Happened
Beautiful Broken Girls

Hmm, can't say I've been in the reading funk you describe before. I've had moments when I couldn't settle on a book and have a few going at once, but one does eventually hook me in and I finish and am able t move on. I definitely do have to swap up genres because of favorites getting predictable. Yeah... I dunno. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Cath Crowley is on my wish list after seeing a few positive reviews for it so hopefully it will bring you a finish.
Have a happy Memorial Day, Misty. And good colors to go with your temp blonde status.

ReplyDeleteHrm...maybe your book funk comes from feeling an overall obligation to books (finishing, being analytical about, etc)? That's the only book funk I've experienced personally, and my reaction to feeling obligated to do something is usually to resent it and abandon it.
ReplyDeleteIf forcing yourself to read doesn't cure it, what about a vacation from reading entirely (until you're jonesing for a read)?
Also, it is so weird seeing you as a blonde. :)
I love that you rock purple hair, blue hair, multiple colors- that's a rare talent, and awesome. Have you ever tried green? Or teal? Hrmm....
Thanks for the tip about S-Town! I had no idea people were making podcasts that are radio plays! Yay!!! I've only encountered talk-show type podcasts, and news or educational podcasts.
My recommendation is, if you haven't already read it, Leviathan Wakes. It's the first in The Expanse series, adult scifi, and I found it incredibly engaging.
I read that Post and got it fine and informative,Please share more like that.
