Amid Stars and Darkness, Chani Lynn Feener, book review, Swoon ReadsAMID STARS AND DARKNESS by Chani Lynn Feener
Sci Fi / Romance, 368 pages
Published July 18th 2017 by Swoon Reads
Delaney’s entire world is thrown into chaos after she is mistaken for Lissa Olena, an alien princess hiding out on Earth in order to escape an arranged marriage.

Kidnapped by the princess’s head bodyguard, Ruckus, and imprisoned in an alien palace, Delaney is forced to impersonate the princess until Olena can be found. If she fails, it will lead to an alien war and the eventual enslavement of the entire human race.

No pressure or anything.

Factor in Trystan, the princess’s terrifying betrothed who is intent on unraveling all her secrets, and her own growing feelings for Ruckus, and Delaney is in way over her head.

Avocado toast is delicious.

  1. I think you hit on what I think about several of my favorite romances. I have a few sci-fi romances where the alien world and characters are under-developed, but yet there is something in the writing that pulls me in and is just sheer fun. The love triangle would probably put me off even if this one is fun. I've just gotten such a low tolerance for it. Your avocado egg on sourdough looked great. I was finishing the tuna salad sandwich I had for lunch while listening. :)

  2. I applaud you for eating a runny lunch on camera while handling a book. How did you succeed in not wearing your lunch? Skillz, lady. Skillz. (I had a bit of cold, leftover, sad sad lamb- appetite is gone, but I need protein, so....)

Thanks for this review- that is EXACTLY why I don't generally enjoy romances. I keep trying, but...it's rare that I've found one with well-written characters and good storytelling (that's....you know...central to the plot). Any recommendations?

Good bad books sounds like a fun book chat.
