A Curated List of Austen in August Highlights (part 1)

I promise our "housekeeping" -style posts are almost out of the way; I know you all want to get to the guest posts and the top tens and the giveaways. (Oh, the giveaways!) 

But we've been doing Austen events for so long now, and there have been so many amazing contributions over the years, and I hate to think of them just languishing there in the blog backlist. The last few years, I've been plucking a few from the ether and sharing them on the daily schedule, but I decided this year to actually go through and narrow down some of my all-time favorite moments from Austen in August. 

This was no easy feat, and trust me, there are SO MANY MORE great ones that I didn't mention, so feel free to browse around the entire collection. But here are some of the ones that stand out to me, and that always come to mind first whenever I think about AIA. . .

That time Leigh Dreyer made her male family members watch Pride & Prejudice. . . and then again, when she made them watch Sense & Sensibility.

That time we watched the 80s version of Northanger Abbey, and whew! It was a RIDE.

"Is she my dear? I noticed she wears as little as possible."

The way I used to organize the schedule into a "Dance Card" named after Regency dances. It was chaos, but it was fun!

That time we had a series of Dear Jane letters, some of which were answered by Various Ladies (who shall remain anonymous, but who may or may not be Authors You Know. I'm just saying...)

But one of my all-time favorite moments, one I always, always think of, has to be that time we played MASH. And had so much fun, we did it again.

And that's topped only by the time we played Kiss, Marry, Kill.
